Kas
(meaning eyebrow) is one of the southernmost points in Turkey. Set on
the beautiful turquoise coast, Kas is steeped in history. It boasts
its own amphitheatre, still used for concerts and festivals, plus many
tombs and relics from the Lycian period. The old town around the harbour
has a maze of cobbled streets with a myriad of shops, cafes, restaurants
and bars, buzzing from morning to midnight and beyond. Although tourism
is important to Kas, its charm lies in the fact that it is primarily
a Turkish fishing/market town. Its amphitheatre-like mountain backdrop
to the bay, looking over the Greek island of Meis (meaning eye), gives
it not only stunning views in every direction but also its own microclimate
making Kas an ideal place to visit all the year round.
Our apartments are situated on the Cukarbag Peninsula, 2 km from Kas town centre. Set in a quiet and peaceful cove, with stunning sea views from the patio, balcony and shared swimming pool, we offer you a paradise in which to unwind and chill out. A five minute stroll to the sea gives you the opportunity to snorkel on your doorstep or soak up the rays whilst watching the ships come and go from Kas harbour.
The
four air conditioned apartments have one double and one twin bedroom.
Two apartments also have two sofa beds allowing these to sleep six.
We can therefore accommodate large parties or smaller families. There
are two shower rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs in each apartment.
We have tried to provide home comforts (cotton sheets, washing machine,
iron, board and hairdryer) whilst still keeping a Turkish feel. The
apartments are equipped with a library of books and CD's with three
apartments equipped with TV and DVD's.
A dolmus (minibus) service operates regularly around the peninsula, stopping on the road above the apartments, and is a ten-minute ride to/from Kas harbour for less than 50p.
There are many fascinating places to visit such as: Saklikent Gorge, Patara (birthplace of St Nicholas/Father Christmas) with its beautiful sandy turtle beach (voted most beautiful beach in the world in the 90s), the ancient city of Xanthos, the Lycian rock tombs of Myra carved into the mountainside and the sunken city of Kekova to name but a few. Daily tours leave from Kas town or harbour. Other popular outings are Gullet cruises around the spectacular coastline, or a day trip to Meis. There are also numerous physical activities available for those who enjoy an energetic holiday. Kas is the most popular area in Turkey for scuba diving with numerous registered schools operating out of the harbour. The Lycian Way is one of the top ten walks in the world; furthermore there is paragliding, cycling, sea kayaking, white water rafting etc.
If
flying in from/to Antalya airport we recommend a stay/visit to the Kadirs
Tree Houses (voted the best youth Hostel in the world in 1999) enabling
you to wander through the forgotten city of Olympos. From here a night
excursion takes you to the wondrous Chimera Fire Mountain where natural
gas fires burn continuously, but be warned its a steep climb!
So whether you want to relax, be active or learn about
Turkey's fascinating rich history of over 4000 years and four empires,
or see her wonderful sights, Dolphin View, with its creature comforts,
is the place to base yourself. We are sure you will not be disappointed
if you decide to stay and we hope you come back to visit again and bring
your friends.
